I have a bad ear infection i was told to take ibuprofen for pain. i am taking them 4 tabs 200mg every 7 to 8 hours is that ok?

Yes: You can safely take up to 2400 mg per day. I recommend you drink plenty of fluids as well. If your taking the Ibuprofen for pain, you don't need such a high dose-400mg 3 times per day will be equally effective. The 800 mg dose is for treating inflammation from, for example, arthritis.
