When you break a bone is there anything you can do to make it heal faster before doctors operate?

Yes: While there are no pills you can take to make your bones heal faster, living a healthy lifestyle does help. Smoking is a huge risk factor for poor healing. If you are a diabetic, maintaining good control of your blood sugar levels is also important.

You can't make it heal faster before doctors operate. Once we operate we are going to manipulate the fracture to obtain as close to anatomic alignment. It is more important to be in good health, be active and be on calcium 1200 mg/day.

You can optimize : The conditions for healing, and avoid things known to delay healing, but you can't speed up the rate at which bone heals.
