A member asked:

What are the odds of someone having/developing sporadic fatal insomnia right now?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Very low: Sporadic fatal insomnia is very rare. In 30 years of medical practice I have not come across a single case. It may be related to a very rare illness called creutzfeld-jacob disease.
