Sleep study: I am assuming that you mean sleep apnea which many people have. It is not typically fatal but could be because it involves stopping breathing during sleep. The way to identify this is through a sleep study which can be set up by your PCP. There are many efffective modes of treatment so it is not something to worry about. just get checked.

Why?: There have only been about 10 cases of sporadic familial insomnia diagnosed in the world. Why would you think you have something so incredibly rare? What symptoms do you have?
