Severity : Tendonitis is acute inflammation around the tendon. Rice therapy is usually enough to treat this problem. Tendonosis is swelling within the tendon due to partial tears. This is a more chronic finding and is more difficult to treat. There is a dense bulge noted in the tendon. Requires aggressive non weight bearing and rest. Often requires surgery if treatment is refractory.
