Yes: Most surgeons give anesthetic blocks to relieve pain after surgery so numbness and tingling is good for 12 or so hours after surgery. Pins and needles after that should be brought to the attention of the surgeon as the dressing maybe too tight.

Can be: 1 swelling can increase tingling 2 temporary irriatation of superficial nerve can occur 3 surgery on a nerve can induce nerve irritation 4 these are specific issues to discuss woththe surgeon if you have tingling make sure it is expected or understood and not a sing of something more ominous.
