Self care: It definitely is possible that you do have a pinched nerve. Most common reasons of neck pain are compromised posture (work, sleep etc), strained neck, and lack of exercise; these are likely muscular pains. Other factors involve trauma, genetics, underlying medical illness etc. Try gentle stretching of the neck. Also try doing warm compresses for about 10-12 minutes twice daily.
