Red eye: It sounds like she has a sub conjunctival hemorrhage, a bright red bruise of the whites of the eye. Generally asymptomatic and self limited and usually associated with blood thinners such as warfarin. Treatment usually not necessary, but comforting artificial tears are okay.

Several types of inflammatory conditions, allergic reactions, detergents, chemicals, and sometimes bacterial, viral or fungal infections can cause redness of the eyes.
