I was once on metformin and my doctor took me off the metformin 1000 pills and i was wondering why?

Kidneys: At some point other medications may be more effective in your therapy than 1st line treatment with metformin. Also, there are the possibility of confounding variables such as kidney function that can be problematic with metformin leading to issues such as but not limited to metabolic acidosis.
