Can infants with sickle cell trait have painful epsidoes?

I've never seen it: Trait is generally asymptomatic through a kids life but may produce a mild anemia in some. If trait is paired with another metabolic issue with a different hemoglobin or g6pd i suppose it might trigger an event. Over many years i've never seen a trait kid have any related pain.

Yes.: This is called dactyl iris. Usually occurs in infants about 6-12 months of age. Call your doctor, as many of these episodes will need treatment to make the pain better.
