A member asked:

Does having the sickle cell trait lead me to having painful joints?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Very Unlikely: Sickle cell trait is considered by most pediatric hematologists to be a largely asymptomatic condition under most circumstances. One exception is urinary frequency and bedwetting due to a loss of the ability to concentrate the urine. Patients with sickle cell anemia frequently have bone pain but usually not joint pain; sickle trait patients should not have joint pain either due to that condition.
