What is benefit of music when ill?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

If you like it: "music therapy" is a "complementary" practice -- labor-intensive, and keeps the patient entertained while the disease runs its course. Nobody has shown any real advantage to music in really treating anything. I play keyboard but dislike having to listen to music especially if i'm trying to do something productive, and need it off if i'm going to sleep. If it comforts you, fine.
