To get a diagnosis: A stereotactic biopsy is indicated when a lump or an abnormal proliferation is detected on clinical or radiologic exams. Teh purpuse is to collect tissue that, after processing, will be evaluated under the microscope by a pathologist and a diagnosis will be rendered. Based on this diagnosis, your doctor will know how to treat you.
