6-12 weeks: Fractures usually take about six weeks to heal. Even after the fracture is healed, patients - kids included - tend to favor the injured extremity for a while. That time varies from person to person and also depends to some degree on the severity of the injury. 6-12 weeks from the day of injury is a good estimate.
