Referred pain: When a nerve is irritated, it is possible to have discomfort at any point along the nerve and within the muscles that it controls. All nerves have roots that come from the spinal cord- it is not uncommon to have back pain hand, and or arm pain that is all related. A neurologist or physiatrist can help to sort this out.
