Swelling?: Your breasts will remain very firm for several weeks after surgery due to swelling. After this time, the breasts should soften as the skin stretches to accommodate the implant. Some patients will then to start to get tightening or firmness of the breast which can cause pain or distortion. This is known as a capsular contracture. Typically, this will require further surgery to correct.

Depends: The answer depends on how recently you had your surgery. If surgery was recent it can be normal due to the increased volume or may be something more serious like a hematoma. If it is many months after surgery, it can be a capsule forming. Best to discuss this with your surgeon.

Is is 3wks-months?: This really depends on the timing. It is normal for the breasts to remain somewhat firm for the first 3 weeks to 3 months. Breast implants displacement exercises may help, to diminish the tightness felt. If this does not resolve by 3 months some surgeons have advised the off label use of Accolate or singulair (montelukast) to minimize capsular contracture which may require surgery if unsuccessful after 6-9 month.

Depends.: Whether the firmness you are experiencing is “normal” will depend on how far out of surgery you are. Within the first few weeks after breast augmentation surgery some breast firmness is to be expected. Significant and/or asymmetric firmness may be a sign of a complication such as bleeding. Later down the line, firmness of the breasts may be a sign of abnormal scarring ( encapsulation).

Need more info.: The breasts tend to feel tight after surgery and gradually soften. Sometimes it takes a few weeks, sometimes a few months, rarely a year. If they were soft and now are firm you may have capsular contracture, tightening of the normal scar pocket around the implant. Hard to say without more information.

Normal: After breast augmentation, it is normal for your skin and muscles to feel tight. It takes several months for your tissue to stretch and feel normal. http://www.dassmd.com/breast-augmentation/index.html.
