Does anybody know about the cost of artificial ankle and who will pay for it?

Expensive option: The newer ankle replacement devices easily cost $10, 000 to $20, 000. Add in hospital costs and the surgical team and you are looking at an expensive surgery. Many insurance companies cover these devices but you need to read your coverage carefully. If you have an hmo or medicaid it might be more of a battle or they may only cover other options such as an ankle fusion.

Insurance hopefully...: Total ankle replacement is expensive. Implants costs thousands of dollars. The doctor's and hospital fees are also expensive. Before you undergo ankle replacement get preapproval from your insurance provider so that you are not stuck with any portion of the bill.
