A member asked:

What are the breastfeeding implications if you have nipple candidiasis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sore cracked nipples: Candida can cause thrush (baby's mouth), and may make your nipples very sore, and more likely to crack and bleed. Sore nipples may make you reluctant to nurse, which will reduce your milk production. Candida thrives in warm, dark, moist places-exactly the environment in your bra! avoid occlusive nursing pads, air your breasts, and apply the antifungal cream recommended by your doctor.
