A member asked:

If my membranes ruptured in pregnancy what would it smell like?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Nothing at the start: This is just sterile watery material at the start. The labor & delivery personnel would check the acidity of the material to distinguish it from urine, but it should not smell initially. Over time, if germs get in an odor would start, but hopefully you never let it go that far. By then baby could be infected.
