Many things: There are a number of things that can cause swelling in the foot and ankle post operatively. This is a very nonspecific symptom. Postop Pain: Ankle orif surgery is extensive and the postoperative pain can be significant. If you are in pain that you feel is more than should be present, follow up with your surgeon.
