What can cause your leg to turn black after a knee fracture?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See your doctor!: Bruising after a broken bone (black, blue, green skin discoloration) is common. The broken bone bleeds, the blood seeps into the surrounding tissues, including the skin. As the body cleans up the mess, the colors change. If the skin is really dark black, part of the tissue may have died from circulation damage; let your orthopaedist know about that right away.
