A member asked:

What exactly is gastric stasis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Poor emptying: The stomach (gastric) emptys its contents into the duodenum, and this area may be narrowed due to scarring (peptic ulcer), congenital problems. The stomach wall should be able to squeeze the contents into the duodenum, but sometimes the stomach just lies there(gastoparesis) as seen in diabetes. The result is poor emptying of the stomach contents: gastric stasis.
