A member asked:

When you get an organ transplant, how eactly does the body try to destroy the new organ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Immune system: Your white blood cells and their products (antibodies) treat the transplant like any type of foreign material. Just as it would treat an infection or a splinter. The blood cells and antibodies attach to certain points on the cells of the transplant and destroys them.
