Requires high skill: Lasers can make complicated procedures seem very easy. Although complications are rare, treating delicate areas like the eye with a laser requires a lot of training and experience. You are mostly paying for the surgeon's skill. Also quality equipment is very expensive the doctor has to pay more than most people pay for a house to purchase a laser. Consumable costs are also very high.

Many reasons: Many physical and character attributes can make people less than ideal candidates for laser vision correction. Commonly corneal thickness and shape are issues. However, many different types of vision correction surgery exist. If you consult with a refractive specialist, they will be able to tell you the risks and benefits of each procedure as they pertain to you and your goals.
