A member asked:

Would you recommend chemotherapy for a lobular beat cancer patient who its 44 and had a tumor that was 4.9 without clear margins, but had clear nodes?

Need More Info...: Anatomic staging is critical but molecular staging (estrogen-, progesterone-, her2/neu receptors+/-oncotypedx) is driving many of our chemorx recommendations. Most importantly, we rx people not diseases: you need to sit down w/an oncologist to determine what's best for you. Lastly, your + margin does not influence chemo decision; you need a re-excision lumpectomy or a mastectomy.

Yes: The details are not there completely; the answer depends on the receptor status and related information but in general this would require more surgery, more testing such as molecular and genomic profiling and chemotherapy and in some cases radiation. Genetic testing may also be advised.
