Yes: If your knee is hurting then one often compensates with same or opposite side related or adjacent joints like hip and/or back so this is a very common scenario. If knee pain worsens you might want to see your primary doctor and see what can be done to help this as this can often get worse over time and as you can see affect other joints as well.

Conceivably: But far more common that hip pain refers to the knee. A careful physical exam should help to answer your question.
