Tonsil cancer: Most malignancies of the tonsil are non-keratinizing squamous cell carcinomas that are hpv-related. Unlike other squamous cell carcinomas of the head & neck, they tend to be exquisitely radiation and chemosensitive. While my hospital does not perform tomotherapy, any directed radiotherapy is likely effective. If the malignancy is lymphoid in origin (lymphoma), it's a very different discussion.

Effective option: Tomotherapy is precisely targeted radiation treatment that is can be used as a stand-alone treatment, or in combination with chemotherapy, depending on the staging and size of the tumor. Treatment programs are customized based on tumor location, size and shape. It minimizes damage to surrounding structures, such as salivary glands, decreasing dry mouth symptoms.
