Muscle weakness: Statins (hmg coa reductase inhibitors) can have the side effect of muscle weakness. This could be the result of the depeletion of coenzyme q-10- which the statins inhibit. Taking coenzyme q-10 is highly recommendable to all patients on statin drugs to help avoid these side effects.
