Upper vs lower: Stridor is due to upper airway obstruction upto larynx or upper trachea and wheezing due lower airway obstruction- in bronchioles.

Breathing noises: Stridor noise made by air passing through narrowed, obstructed or floppy airway.Stridor can be inspiratory or exhalatory.Most inspiratory stridor is in larynx/ prox.trachea.Some exhalatory noise in trachea ususally tracheomalacia.Both inspiratory and exhalatory(biphasic) can be in airway just below vocal cords..Wheezing high-pitched whistling sound made while exhaling commonly asthma/bronchiolitis
