Fix it: Many people have congenital hernias that don't show up until adulthood. When they are discovered, they should be fixed. They can cause serious trouble. Depends: There are many types if hernias, so it depends on the location. In addition to the location, the size and symptoms factor in to the decision on whether or not to operate. Without symptoms, an operation may prevent it from getting worse.
