Fix it: Many people have congenital hernias that don't show up until adulthood. When they are discovered, they should be fixed. They can cause serious trouble. On the other hand, there are docs who have a wait and see attitude. Certainly if there is any pain, it should be fixed. Most are done outpatient.

It will not fix on i: It will not fix on it's own. It can become a problem longterm causing a blockage of your bowels and the need for emergent surgery.

Depends: There are many types if hernias, so it depends on the location. In addition to the location, the size and symptoms factor in to the decision on whether or not to operate. Without symptoms, an operation may prevent it from getting worse.
