Not comprehensive: Invisilign cannot make some of the movements that may be needed for orthodontic correction of malaligned teeth. An orthodontist who provides both can give you a broader picture of what is best for your particuluar situation. Also, don't be afraid to seek a second opinion from another orthodontist.

Predictability: Invisalign is a good appliance for those mild-moderate cases with a good bite. For more challenging cases it struggles. Compliance is key, they must be worn 24/7 to work. The aligners can be lost, increasing treatment time. If you have an easy case, are resposible and committed to wearing them 24/7, then it is a good treatment modality.

Compliance is King: Absolute compliance with prescribed wear instructions (simple: wear 24/7 except when eating or cleaning teeth) is critical for success. However, compliance is also the most important factor for braces as well.

Many: Advantage, almost invisible. Disadvantages: average of 41% effective (braces >90% effective), not for complex cases, often done by non-orthodontists with limited training, braces attached so work 24/7--trays are removable and are out hours/day for meals, snacks, and acidic beverages, greater post-rx relapse because can only produce incomplete results. It's like wrapping a broken leg in colophane.

A few: Invisalign is not effective if it is not worn according to the company requirements of 21-22 hours per day, so patient cooperation in following this is critical to its success. In addition, the experience of the doctor administering the treatment is equally important, as it requires specific directions regarding tooth movement made to the technician that must come from the treating doctor.
