Injury: Knee injuries can be complex and very debilitating. Treatment depends on what has been injured (collateral ligaments, patellar tendon, acl/mcl) and what is necessary for repair and recovery. A visit to an orthopedic surgeon is best way to determine the extent of the injury and if further treatment is required. Usually, therapy is required after orthopedic repair.

Have it evaluated: Simple injuries may be treated with rest, ice, compression and elevation, pain medication, and anti-inflammatory medication. More severe cases may require bracing, injection, physical therapy, and possible surgery. Have it evaluated and get the appropriate treatment.
