What are the complications of typhoid?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Fever & GI bleeding: Typhoid and paratyphoid fevers are caused by bacteria. If infected you may have high fevers (which can last a month), headache, diarrhea, intestinal bleeding, and dehydration. Some develop a chronic carrier state-- persitent infection without symptoms. Rarely a hole can develop in the intestines which can be life-threatening. Treatement of typhoid fever involves hospitialization and antibiotics.
