Swelling: Most blood clots in the legs are on the venous side, and cause swelling of the leg. The venous return of blood to the heart is partially blocked by the clot. A venous or dvt/deep venous thrombosis ultrasound of your leg is the diagnostic test. Treatments include blood thinners, compression, follow up and occasionally lytics (clot busters). Check with your doc.
