Yes: Treatment of venous insufficiency is best performed using endovenous ablation, and the vv removed with phlebectomy. Sclerotherapy of reticular, spider veins is commonly done. Sclerotherapy of vv is done mostly by european phlebologists, although after the endovenous procedures deeper vv, residual vv can be treated nicely with sclerotherapy. It works for both: Sclerotherapy is an effective treatment of varicose veins. It is best used on the surface veins after any underlying saphenous vein insufficiency[ reflux] has been treated. Saphenous reflux is best treated with thermal or laser ablation. Sclerotherapy is also an effective and versatile treatment for spider veins. Laser can also be used on the smallest veins.

Modern spider therap: Best treatment requires veins to be closed down to a zero flow state. Chemical irritants far superior and less painful than surface laser. Nothing exists that spontaneously dissolves veins. Body will break those down that stay closed over 6-8 weeks. Only use surface laser on spider veins near nose. Avoid use of Hypertonic Saline causes extra pain & muscle cramping. Use medical stockings afteta.

Treatment options: Spider veins on the face are probably best treated with laser although sclerotherapy works well too if the provider is experienced. Spider veins on the legs are best treated with sclerotherapy. Sometimes a combination of both is used on the legs, but sclerotherapy can treat veins of any size in the legs and laser is often not needed.

Acceptable but.: Sclerotherapy is the treatment of choice for leg spider veins. For varicose veins sclerotherapy can be done but it usually requires multliple treatments and may require evacuating the clotted blood from the treated vv. Microphlebectomies work well on vv and is just one treatment. If you have both vv and spider veins then you should have a venous reflux exam by a vein specialist first.
