Breath: Bad breath has many causes. Keep your teeth clean by flossing then brushing for five minutes straight 1x/day. Get your gums checked for periodontal disease by your dentist. Watch your diet as some foods cause bad breath and lastly check with your md as some drugs you may be taking may contribute to dry mouth and bad breath. Congrats and good luck.

Halitosis: Can be due to many reasons, many of which have been addressed correctly in the other answers. There is an otc product called "smart mouth" which patients have suggested is quite effective. Good luck.
