Asthma: He should also start with his maintenance (steroid) inhaler tonight. You may repeat the ventolin again in 2 hours or if you have a nebulizer, give him an Albuterol Inhalation treatment. If there is improvement, you can continue with it or the venolin inhaler every 4 hrs. If no improvement, oral steroids will also help. If you do not have that, and he continues to cough hard, bring him to the ed.
