Nerve or tendon: Not sure diagnosis based on your description. Possibilities include lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) or cubital tunnel which is compression of the ulnar nerve on the inside of your elbow. I would have this evaluated. If tennis elbow, this tends to be a chronic condition. If cubital tunnel, consider wearing an elbow extension brace at night.

Cubital tunnel: Consider cubital tunnel syndrome. This syndrome leads to medial/inner elbow pain, forearm discomfort and tingling in the ring and small fingers. The ulnar nerve that is involved also helps control grip strength.
