Yes it can.: Tonsil cancer presents as a mass, ulcer or swelling of the tonsil. It can be infected and look like tonsillitis. But tonsillitis itself does not becessarily become cancer. Tonsil cancer occurs more in smokers, drinkers and persons with poor oral hygiene. It also occurs more in persons with certains types of genital virus infection.
