Mrsa: Mrsa not always you get through nose , it is common place for colonization , ca - MRSA is spread through close contact , different kind of bateria than you get through hospital acquired mrsa. Bactroban ointment help to cure colonization of nasal MRSA . It does not guarantee cure. Common hand washing , hygiene and avoiding sharing of towels are some of the helpful hints that prevent to get infecti.

No: The best thing to do is wash your hands regularly . If you are worried about a carrier state a nasal swab can be done. This would definitely be done if you were admitted to the hospital and told them you were exposed. If you were going to have surgery i would recommend the swab be done and if positive, treated with nasal Mupirocin ointment and oral doxycycline.
