What does your thyroglobulin level mean?

Have thyroid tissue: Thyroglobulin is made in thyroid tissue. It is useful only in patients who have had a total thyroidectomy with or without a mop-up dose of 131i for thyroid cancer. If thyroglobulin levels are still present it means there is thyroid tissue left (normal or cancerous). No thyroglobulin afterward that means a good job by the surgeon/nuclear technologist. If negative and then positive=recurrence.
