Depends: Thyroglobulin is the protein used to make thyroid hormone. It is a normal component of the thyroid and, in someone healthy, checking thyroglobulin level does no add information. In someone who underwent thyroidectomy, the level should be very low if the surgery removed the whole gland. The antibodies are used as marker of autoimmune thyroid disease.
