Several things: Bed rest, ice pack for 5 minutes at a time, warm bath tub soaks in plain water for 15-20 minutes, avoid constipation and diarrhea. You may have external hemorrhoids, prolapsed internal hemorrhoids and or an anal fissure. If not better in 48 hours of doing the above see a colon and rectal surgeon.

Consistent Treatment: Most hemorrhoids can be managed with home treatment. The key is consistent treatment. This includes adding fiber to your meals, drinking more water, and using over-the-counter ointments for a limited time to stop itching. You also may use stool softeners to treat associated constipation. If this does not help them you should make an appointment with your physician for further evaluation.

Fiber!: Increase the amount of fiber in your diet. The best way is with metamucil three times a day taken with a glass of water.
