Could be: Make sure you are maintaining good to excellent oral hygiene. When you have an outbreak and tissues are tender, one tends to be "gentle" and not thorough in one's oral hygiene - further contributing to the problem. Consult your dentist or physician if the problem persists.

Maybe: Can be seen with some infections. Swish with baking soda in water, use soft bristle brush , with nonabrasive toothpaste, no spicy foods. Call doc, or dentist.
