Usually 1 to 2 hours: The length of time your mouth feels numb depends on the type and amount of anesthetic used and how quickly your body removes and neutralizes the medication. It is not unusual for this to last for an hour or more . Make sure you ask your dentist how long it should last and give him/her a call if it lasts longer.

Varies: It depends on the tpe of dental anesthetic given and the location it is placed. In general terms, if an injections does not contain Epinephrine then the life span is very short (around and hour). If the injection has epi then the blood vessles in the injected area will vasoconstric (shrink) and therefore the anesthetic will not be carried away by the blood as fast... And you will be numb longer.

Less than 6 hrs: It depends on the area injected, amount and the anesthetic used. Usually about 3 to 4 hours. Typically, we say that you should not be feeling the effect of the local anesthetic after 6 hours.
