Expected side effect: Nexplanon is an implant that releases hormones slowly to allow contraception and prevents pregnancy. Unfortunately, you can have irregular bleeding secondary to it that may or may not resolve with few cycles. See how you feel about it and speak to your obgyn if heavy bleeding occurs.
