What can cause sudden loss of vision in the lower half of one eye?

Decreased blood flow: Your very precise description is consistent with interruption of blood flow in a branch of the retinal artery on one side. This needs attention, as a stroke risk would be present. Unlikely that this represents migraine. See an ophtalmologist asap.
