I have a history of retinal detachment and am short sighted. could i still get laser eye treatment?

Yes, see below.: Yes you could, assuming that the eye is otherwise healthy and that your prescription is stable. Of course it is important to measure the corneal thickness to make sure that it is adequate and to perform topography to make sure that the corneal "shape" lends itself well to laser vision correction. In the face of previous retinal detachment it may be safer to consider prk instead of lasik.

Certainly possible: After retinal detachment repair and depending upon the method of repair, many patients become near sighted. Lasik and similar surgery may, in fact, be beneficial. You should see your local refractive surgeon for an evaluation.
