Some things to try: Be well rested; get plenty of sleep. Avoid medications that can cloud thinking (eg, cold tablets) or alcohol. Put aside distractions... Go somewhere quiet, without people, tv, computer screens, etc. Divide the material into small "chunks" in order to focus on one portion at a time, and mark your progress. A medical eval can check for other possible reasons for poor concentration.
