IBS not malabsorptio: What is getting malabsorbed? Some things: lactose, common digestive problem due to decrease in enzyme that digests milk sugar into simpler sugars. Bacterial overgrowth of small bowel can cause diarrhea, cramps, etc, can be seen in ibs.Genl malabsorption is not seen with ibs; can be seen with parasites, inflammation, celiac sprue, pancreatic disease, other bowel problems. Tests?Idio=unknown cause.
